PLANNED CHAOS THEORY

JUVENILE HALL ROLLCALL

Whilst researching different themes and possible topics for my forthcoming Honours collection and this god awful Summer Project, i stumbled across this Japanese ready to wear label and cant help but think of my "Love Your Bones" collection.
I do love a label that shares the appreciation of all things dark and disturbing and is not afraid to inject some humour into those fashion Cliches. "Juvenile Hall Rolecall" does just that and i could not be more into it!
Not only does it have possibly THE BEST name chosen for a clothing labeL! All of the distressed denim garments, mohair jumpers, and shark print tshirts are accessorised with bones, spikes and shards of metal.
RIGHT UP MY STREET!

ISOLATED HEROES SHOP P.A.R.T.Y.Y.Y.Y

Ok so as everyone knows saturday was my ISOLATED HEROES in store party!! Basically to have a celebration day for the store, raise abit more awareness for the boutique and launch all the new ready to wear garments i have been making. And what a day it was!! Honestly could not have asked for a better turn out or a nicer mix of people in the store and showing their appreciation to all the projects we have been doing. I cant think of a better thing to happen to the Carnoustie highstreet and the support we have recieved from the local people has been fabulous!
I would like to thank all the models for doing yet again another fantastic job and the marvels and Van Damn for playing such an amazing set!!!!

I Hope everyone had as much fun as we did!! Now i am already sooo excited for the next in store event!

"LOVE YOUR BONES"

"Love Your Bones" is the metaphorical representation of the Nostradamus quote "Mans Greed will be Humanity’s end." The collection aimed to take a kitsch approach and infuse humour into the very serious topic of dooms day and the end of the world. The garments are made from natural fibres, horse hide, thick leathers and roe deer bones, aiming to highlight and combine the process of evolution on the human race.
Particularly exploring the ideas of survival and extinction of all mankind through global warming. Raising the current issues of climate change, the collection visually reflects our darkest fears on the topic, highlighting the end of the human race.

Inspiration has been collated throughout my exploration of the topic and drawn in from several sources. Particularly looking at ancient prophecies and prophets who predicted the date they assumed the world would end. My main inspiration however came from prehistoric drawings of animals that have died out such as mammoths and other extinct creatures This encouraged me to use bold oversized shapes, jackets where the silhouette is extremely oversized and quilted for warmth and humongous bell shaped sleeves on dresses which drape long over the arm and around the hand. The oversized parachute silk padded jacket continues with this theme of being large in size making the wearer feel safe and warm in a number of conditions that they may experience during the effects of doomsday.

My main focus of the collection was to take such a heavy subject and portray it in an almost comical light hearted way. The theme had to be relevant throughout the design process and I feel this is particularly seen in my fabric choices for the collection clashing hard leather collars with luxurious green suede and soft iridescent fabrics. I particularly enjoyed styling the project for the final photoshoot with the girls having bones tied in their hair and seeing the final look together. The accessories were a complete nightmare to make however! Involving many nights awake trying to clean and preserve roe deer bones to make into giant chain necklaces. "Love Your Bones" is definatly not for the faint hearted!

The Dressing Up Box

Opening our shop has been exciting to say the least! It has been one of the most inspiring and beneficial projects I have been involved in to date with the ideas constantly flowing between myself, Danielle and Bethany (the owners of the store).
Our aim for the store was to create something more than the usual dusty vintage shops we have previously experienced where the atmosphere is so dull it makes you want to run out the shop rather than purchase from it.
Setting ourselves away from the other vintage boutiques in the Dundee area, The Dressing Up Box is a completely unique store of its kind. With a constant buzz in store we have created the ultimate shopping experience where we get to know each customer on a personal level and help them find the perfect outfit by combining vintage with new designer pieces.

With in store alterations and a team of stylists on hand every client is given luxury service when purchasing their garments. Look books are on display throughout the store featuring my Isolated Heroes ready to wear label so you can personally order commissions in your size and to your specifications.
