So we have been busy ripping apart some vintage Leathers for our online ASOS store. Completely reconstructing each jacket adding in AMAZZZZZZING Isolated Heroes African Tribal print linings which have been hand embroidered with a HUGE isolated heroes logo and hand embellishing with hundreds of studs! ULTIMATE ISOLATED HEROES OUTFIT!

So we were in London also this week for some top secret buisnezzz where we had to make a pretty bitching outfit! We went for a signature ISOLATED HEROES laser cut jacket with screen printed sleeves and drop crotch harem pants! The pants were made from original African print wax cotton which had then been screen printed on top of with illustrations of the AWA in a sickkkkk black print! We then printed small motifs and hand embroidered them with red wool and strips of raffia adding these to the trousers and finishing the jacket with some ILL 1990's Gianna Versace esque gold buttons appliqued round the jacket collar. Although we can't give anything away and show you the finished outfit here is a little peak into what we have been busy creating. You will need to stay tuned to find out more ...

Something which is ridiculously big, majorly comfortable and can be worn over anything! I have been wearing mine all day today for the MASSSSSIVE train journey home. It looks super hawt as a little dress!

To survive the BIG FREEZE we have designed some pretty awesome BARBIE FUR shag coats!!! Made from shaggy faux fur dyed in the most brilliant pastel colours we gotta mint green, white and sickly sweet lylic! Should we go for a bright pink too? We are a going through a bit of a mad clueless faze right now in the studio which has taken over and making us want to make all these BRILLIANT 90's high school pieces. I took the first sample fur down to London this weekend for its first outing. The jacket itself looked amazing BUT the fur was a bit of a nightmare and shed a lot! Resulting in me getting bits of barbie fur EVERYWHERE. Should we put these babies into production? Or keep them as samples for selected clients and to use for styling on our shoots? Depending on the overall feedback we receive we will either make a select few for the store or keep them all to ourselves :)

Sorry we have been a bit slow on the blogger front for the last week or so but it has been MENTAL BUSY. The new ASOS collection launched last Monday and you guys have been eating it up! So we have been extra busy dying, printing and packaging orders and posting them out to all the amazzzors new owners!

This weekend I have been busy down in London picking up some new fabrics, gathering some new inspiration, and getting a few more weaves, starting on the styling for the next shoot ahead. IT-NEVER-STOPS! But we wouldn't have it any other way. So as soon as I touch back down on Scottish soil tomorrow I will be back and busy in the studio starting on the NIGHTWALK SS12 collection and adding some pieces to the ASOS stock. Sneaky images to come later. We will also be interviewing for a new studio assistant this week and printing some more brilliant Sweaters and T's adding them to the ASOS line. WHAAAA CAN FINALLY ANNOUNCE THAT THE NEXT LOT OF GARMENTS WILL BE AVAILABLE TO PURCHASE ON ASOS FROM MONDAY PM!!!!!! This season we have taken a different approach and have made a few one offs, a lot more duplicate garments so we are prepared for all your orders and will hopefully not be disappointing anyone as there will be enough dresses / jackets to go around. We have also introduced some Tie dye tshirts and beanies and little accessories which will be a little lower in cost and therefor everyone can have a piece of the label!!! So excited to get the full stock list uploaded the images are phenomenal!!!! Today we had screen print Saturday in the studio! It has been a while since I have properly screen printed so Jo gave me a lovely little refresher course before I got stuck in. Right now we are making a completely one off AMAAAAZING outfit for an INSANE client! All has to be kept fairly under wraps at the moment but It is so exciting. Will post little tiny garment previews once The production process is well underway. Excuse the mess of the GHETTO STUDIO we still haven't properly cleaned up after the ASOS shoot. BEHIND THE SCENES - ASOS SHOOT TWO

Yesterday we were busy shooting our second set of stock ready for ASOS. The last week has been slightly insane preparing the stock as all of you who follow the brand will know every garment is hand made in the studio! Currently all garments have been produced by myself with the occasional help of interns and other kind people popping in and out, so from this week we are looking to recruit a more permanent team of People working within the studio. Abigail Donaldson joined the team last week she is now taking on the roll of a general assistant helping us with almost every aspect of the brand however her main roll is answering emails and garment enquires. Abigail will now be handling all enquiries into the "Borrowing" of garments and will be keeping track with which garments are currently out on loan to shoots and which are being packaged and sent to Stylists, Events and Editorials. This week has really been all hands on deck in the studio we have had a crazy amount of people passing through the doors helping in various ways: studding, tie dying, shoot preparation, labelling garments, dressing models etc. SO A MASSIVE THANK YOU TO EVERYONE INVOLVED IN THE SHOOTS PREPARATION!!

The actual shoot was PHENOMENAL!!!! We were working with the most AMAZING TEAM <3 Photographer Emma Alexander, MUA & Hair Sandra Cormack & assistant Anna Pillans. and my amazzzzzzzzzing models Sula Powell & Stefania Ottelli Zoletti - Genuinely in love with these gurlls! I cannot emphasise enough what great people they all are to work with. The shoot ran smoothly, we got every shot we were after and I cannot wait to get the final Images back! Its so refreshing working with some new faces and these girls were out of this world a total breath of fresh air and absolutely perfect for representing the label! So Guys without giving too much away into this weeks ASOS shoot as we do want to keep it as much of a surprise as possible with what stock goes on the website, However we just can't keep our mouths shut long enough! We have pulled together a cracking team for this shoot going back to using Emma Alexander for photographer and Sandra Cormack as an MUA We are also pulling in some new models from 2 of Scotland's most reputable agency's: Sula from Superior Model Management and Stefania from Brightside. We have also been working like Trojans in the studio on the ASOS stock sticking to our tribal roots but to a very specific brief drawing in all kind of themes & Inspiration into the new stock. One thing we have noticed is all of the new garments are sticking with the signature Isolated Heroes street style silhouette and have all been heavily influenced by the 90's. And not in a typical AHHHMAAAAGAWWWD 90's revival so on trend kind of way. We have been hand picking some amazing 90's ICONS to produce the "Icons" series of painted leathers and printed Levi Jackets. Just some of the most amazzzzzzing people on earth and some of our generations ICONS printed on to the back of your jacket! Here's a little taster of things to come ......

HELL YEAHHHH! It's nice to bring in the first editorial of 2012! TLG MAGAZINE! We have a two page feature from page 10 onwards. The magazine is available in all good newsagents / magazine stores in Glasgow, Manchester and London, with exclusive copies of the Issue being shipped to California, Florida and Malaysia. AHHHHHMAAAAAZZZIIIIING! NEW STUDIO 2012!!!

We are insanely busy and super happy right now! 2012 really is reeling in the exciting projects already! With contracts already drawn up for certain projects, garments being sent out to stylists, our lovely little ASOS store selling out and now this weekend bringing in the first editorial publication of 2012, It is essential we maintain a good working environment and work space. As most of you know when I moved back to Dundee after graduating last July my main concern was finding a studio space as there are literally no studio spaces in Scotland. Luckily we were offered to share a space by the lovely photographer Emma Alexander in the Tin Roof building on a temporary contract. When we were offered a bigger space in the building and a permanent contract at the end of last year we jumped at the chance of signing it! Finally our own studio space. It is sill a long way off from being finished as we have been simply too busy making up orders for decorating. But hopefully the next few months will see the space transformed into my vision of the perfect studio - Checkerboard floors, potted plants, a proper door, insulation, Mirrors & a chesterfield. But for now here is a glimpse into our new permanent studio space and a little insight into the research and preparation of our next load of ASOS stock ..............

CLEOPATRA'S COMIN' ATCHA!

So I brought in the new year down in London and tried to split my time between work and play. Although it kinda turned into just play. I did manage to see some nice exhibitions particularly LOVING Taryn Simon's "a living man declared dead" but more of that later and I did manage to pick up some bitching fabrics to kick off 2012 with. Literally cannot wait to shoot the second set of stock for the ASOS store. I have been busy finding some amazzzzzin bags and platforms for ya'll and have already made some skin tight printed midi's and some acid house jackets. Below are some story boards I've been working on today in the studio to bring together the different looks going on within the new stock going on ASOS. I haven't yet used the new African wax prints featured in the images above as I literally got off the train yesterday so all the designs with the new fabrics are still in the beginning stages and will hopefully be whipping up some samples later in the week. I'm feeling summer is gonna be SLAMMED full of tie dyes, embellishment, acid wash, fishnet and dyed BARBIE fur coats.

I only ever made one of this garment as It was one of those crazy ideas that went with lots of styling and I did kinda wonder if there was a market for it as I realised it would take one amazing DIVA to be able to work it!! So felt a little sad when It sold today on the ASOS store but also cannot wait to see pictures appearing with the person who has bought it working it! The one piece is made entirely from a heavy weight screen printed jersey viscose with 7inch bitching purple tassels around the neckline. I made the one piece exclusively for the ITCOW show earlier this year where it was modelled by the amazing Lauren Andrews where she closed the show wearing the printed one piece and a huge built up neck piece. The one piece was based partly on the themes running throughout the Voodoo Zumbies collection but also incorporated the shape and fit of the infamous Karen O "skeleton outfit" made for her by christian Joy.

So 2011 Has been absolutely PHENOMENAL!!! Literally could not have asked for a better year!! So many mile stones were achieved and things that I couldn't have even dreamed to have happen have happened and it has made me so EXCITED for 2012 and all the experiences to come. So many plans have already been set for January and February and I cannot wait to get back into the studio this week and kick start the year working on a new collection. Made from heavyweight screen printed viscose jersey this dress hides a multitude of sins underneath its over sized batwing shape. I have now made two massive batches of this dress with both completely SELLING OUT the mintue they have went up on ASOS. This week I have posted this beauty to Dundee, Aberdeen, Glasgow, London, Antwerp and Berlin!!!! XMAS BREAK

You might have realised I haven't been blogging as much lately but it is purely down to not having any time at all. The ASOS store has been hectic since opening with so many orders going out in the last two weeks prior to xmas. It has been quite hard to predict which garments were going to be best sellers So I have been having to go back into the studio to make up orders personally for clients as well as posting the ones already finished from the store. The Oversized, batwing slouch dress and sheer blue midi have proven to be the most popular items in the last few weeks. I also made an executive decision not to upload the new stock and make it available for sale until after the new year as there were no guarantees with Christmas posting that I would have the time to complete orders and get them out to clients in time. Therefore this will bring a fresh and exciting start to 2012 with a whole batch of amazing outfits that fit into the "Voodoo Zumbie" range being available to purchase early 2012.

Until then the ASOS store will be open and trading as normal from now until the 30th of December when it will be closed for a little 5 day break. I hope everyone has an amazing Christmas and a fantastic new year!!!! I know I can't wait to have a little break from the studio and sewing machine! I can't wait to spend some quality time with friends and family and a little break in London where I can get some new fabrics and source out some new inspiration.

Today we launched on ASOS marketplace!! We have approximately 20 items live today with a further 20 going on sale next Saturday. Really happy to announce ASOS as our official online store and looking forward to it becoming our new stomping ground. Although every garment is handmade in studio we wanted each garment to stay true to their roots and be affordable for all. For this reason we have a price range ranging from around £30 for an African screen printed tshirt to £300 for more exclusive pieces. FUCKING LOVE SPOEK MATHAMBO! Right now I'm in the middle of researching for my new fashion film that's getting filmed and produced early February. Pulling together all my visual imagery for the director at the moment and can't help but getting drawn into the Spoek Mathambo music videos particularly "Control" which is directed and shot by Pieter Hugo who I have previously spoke about with huge admiration! This weekend we had a little stall at the Bold Souls Santa Baby pop up styling event / Christmas fayre. Apart from the horrific weather all day it was really nice meeting some of the other designers, photographers and graphic designers. So a good day all round now back to working crazily on the stock ready for the ASOS store opening in time for Christmas orders.

TOPSHOP NEW GEN PROJECT

So basically I was having another Mass clear out of my hard drive this morning and found some of my portfolio work from final year. I really hated this class with a passion! I completely understand the relevance of a portfolio but after working solidly on your final collection for 9 months and then be given four weeks to design
four other collections for commercial briefs which followed "trend forecasting" was completely uninspiring. I just wanted to finish up Uni and get out there with my collection and the portfolio i had built up based around that and do what i wanted to do. As a result of my hatred of the class, avoidance of tutorials and basically no effort whats so ever put into the production of my portfolio lets just say i won't be bringing it to any interviews!

There were however some parts of the portfolio i enjoyed. Particularly my Topshop New Gen print project. I chose to base the collection around the trend forecasting idea of “pigment” for spring/summer 12 I then researched lots of different bright coloured, exciting and eccentric imagery surrounding this trend primarily focusing on the Indian festival “Holi” and looking into traditional peruvian dress blending the two together to create a collection of festival wear experimenting with bright colours, dyes, dip dyes and tide dye and covering this with heavy embellishment.

NOLLYWOOD

Recently i have been introduced to NOLLYWOOD. The third largest film industry in the world, releasing onto the home video market approximately 1 000 movies each year all based in and around Nigeria. Movies are produced and marketed in the space of a week with cheap equipment, very basic scripts, actors cast the day of the shooting and “real life” locations. Despite the improvised production process, they continue to fascinate audiences and have got me hooked! What is most fascinating about the whole allure of the Nigerian film scene is that the movies are a rare instance of self-representation of the African people into the mass media and the sometimes harsh and horrific scenes portrayed in these movies normally over dramatic and based around romance, witchcraft, bribery and prostitution are all a clear nod to real-world African turmoil and ongoing problems in Nigerian society raising questions on how fabricated these story's really are and how much is based on fact rather than fiction.

Researching Nollywood led me to discovering the amazing South African photographer Pieter Hugo. His work is beyond impressive and I plan on writing more posts on each of his fascinating exhibitions and other works. Here however are a selection of images based on Nollywood films.

I decided to shoot the collection over two shoots for Autumn Winter as part of the collection wasn't finished in time and i wanted to try two different styles of shooting and style the collection completely differently in both shoots. A day late i know but i am still recovering from the weekend of Halloween antics! My favourite ever time of year!!! I think Halloween should be turned into a monthly event rather than an annual one. This year my boyfriend and I dressed up as a Voodooo Zumbie Bride and Groom and we won best dressed! Sooooo much fun! Already thinking of some halloween inspiration for next year ......

A/W PRE SHOW PREP

So running up to the show was utter chaos as usual. Garments half finished, a broken wrist with the cast ripped off trying to sew everything up, helpers coming in and out to do little jobs and run errands and then there was the mammoth task of hand sewing the Voodoo Skeleton dress that took three different people 4 weeks to hand sew every single sequin on individually. So a very big thank you to everyone involved who made the speedy production of a new collection possible.

I wanted the Autumn Winter collection to continue the themes running throughout the graduate collection as there were still a lot of aspects of the theme of Vooodoo that i had left undiscovered or not fully developed into garments. Particularly the ideas of Voodoo having a healing power. I was extremely interested in the slightly horrifying ideas of Voodoo still being used as medicine today especially in Muti Murders and sacrifices being uncovered in modern London. The idea of this going on in today's society slightly fascinated me and i wanted to further the graduate collection into an AW collection that explored the different stages of the ideas of sacrificial killings, muti murders and the healing power and trans like state of the tribe. It was also important for me that the AW collection retained the Isolated Heroes street wear ethos and still kept the signature over sized silhouettes while i also introduced some slightly sleeker and more wearable garments to give the collection a commercial value.

Here are the garments that I picked as the final 8 to go down the runway at ITCOW as my modern day Voodoo Tribe. (The show was womanswear only which wiped out a massive part of the collection)

I have so much catching up / updating to do on the blog & website its unreal. So apologies in advance that the show review is a week late. Last week was chaos from start to finish. 24 hr all nighters in the studio finishing off last minute garment details, horrifying train journeys trying to get the collection from one place to the other, packages going out all week for press and editorial shoots, a couple of interviews, La La Land Launch and preparation for the ASOS store launch. All in all a hectic week but we couldn't have been happier with the overall response to the AW collection.

Showing at ITCOW was a completely different experience from anything we have ever done. I really enjoyed showing with other designers, meeting everyone during the day and the set of the show looked amazing and totally fitted the theme. You have got to give it to Claire and Ally these girls work soooo bloody hard on these events insuring everything fits the theme down to a T from the visuals, music, styling, hair, MU and even the models tiny horror nails. As much as i Loved seeing my collection on the beautiful ITCOW models storming the runway it was the not being fully involved in the last minute dressing and sending out of the models and tweaks to the styling that was the only negative for me. But that has absolutely nothing to do with the event itself which was ACTUALLY AMAAAAAZZZZZING!!!!! and more to do with me being a complete control freak when it comes to my designs, the styling and over all presentation of them. I just think in order to present a new collection to the public they need to be able to see the themes underlying within the garments, what the collection is all about and for the garments to have the same captivating effect on the audience I really needed to be in control of everything from model scouting, hair & MU to shoes and styling. Obviously impossible to do with a group show but perhaps this is just what the Isolated Heroes label is all about. Overall Itcow was a complete SUCCESS raising all the designers involved profiles, making some good dollaz for rape crisis Scotland and since leaving the show it has definitely helped me confirm the decision to have a label launch and start showing independently.

DAMIEN HIRST & RANKIN

AMAAAAZZZZING!!!!!!! COULDN'T BE ANYMORE UP OUR STREET .............

Longtime friends Rankin and Damien Hirst get together for a joint project that combines their creative mediums. Titled “Myths, Monsters and Legends,” this collaboration between the photographer and the artist enters the world of an imagined sequence of events with monsters of ancient settlements. Albeit they have developed their own respective platforms, both Rankin and Hirst share similar characteristics on a fundamental level. On this project, the two source their inspiration from model Dani Smith as they depict menacing beasts and ethereal bodies based on a mystical era. The two artists have been pushing boundaries and buttons for their entire life’s work, yet for their first collaborative project, it is the past they have chosen to look to for inspiration. Rankin states of the project; “I have a fascination with fantasy and reality, and bringing the two together… That’s what photography is”.

STUDIO SHOOT BACKSTAGE

Yesterday we spent the whole day shooting in and around the studio. I have been working closely with photographer Emma Alexander to discuss every element of the shoot from props, Themes and lighting to hair and make up. So fair to say we were pretty organised with what we wanted out of the day of shooting. Part of the day was to be dedicated to shooting for ASOS (more to come later including launch date) and the other part was to shoot my favourite pieces from the AW collection in the most creative way possible. The shots i have seen so far are actually phenomenal! SO excited to get them online! Until then here are some shots from backstage!

So Since graduating in June and pretty much setting up the label straight away I have had humongous support from the media! Particularly some very nice bloggers. Now its came to the time that i think i need to officially "Launch" the label. WOW! So in the run up to our Autumn Winter collection premiering at the next ITCOW event, the INCREDIBLY TALENTED Tammy from DIY NAILS has been busy creating a set of ISOLATED HEROES inspired nails to go along with the collection. The results are incredible! Fair to say i was squealing as i opened up my email inbox. Tammy has used samples of prints from the AW collection and created a crazy mish mash of tribal prints, 80s geometric shapes and POP colours. And it gets even better! Tammy is also launching some DIY NAIL kits on the first birthday of LA LA LAND boutique where we will be launching our new stock and pieces from the AW range in store. Been working in the new studio all week and I have to say I have slightly fallen in love. Fully settled in now and having the best time! The main worry after finishing Uni has been finding a studio space since they are few and far between in Scotland. With new stockists, collaborations and orders piling up it was starting to become near impossible living at home and using it as a live / work space. The new studio is fantastic and i want to thank everyone who has welcomed me into their working environment and giving me a space for the label to expand from. Also a massive thank you to my good friend Hannah Mcallister who has been in every day since I have had the studio, working on patterns and helping me sew! After a streak of bad luck last week with falling and breaking two bones in my right hand and a few other things going horribly wrong I'm glad that everything is back on track and I cannot wait to complete the AW collection!

SO as most of you know we move into our new studio this weekend which means space to work in! And just in time as the schedule for the next few months is pretty hectic! It is going to be a mental few weeks getting everything ready and all the new pieces finished for the ITCOW show on the 26th of October and prior to that we have another shoot and we have to get pieces ready for some exciting stockists (more to come later). HELP IS NEEDED. I need someone who is passionate with a lot of drive who is willing to come in a couple of days a week or in their free time to help get the new collection finished you will be required to hand sew, embroider, stud and help do all the simple little things that take FOREVER - also some copying patterns onto card etc! LFW - MENSWEAR DAY

Perhaps my favourite day of fashion week - menswear day really is so intriguing as it seems to be the designers that are producing the most fashion forward yet relevant collections with all garments sharing a true street style conviction. Everything is exciting, fresh, current and wearable - the perfection combination to any collection. With the most exciting designers coming from the NEWGEN and FASHION EAST installations here is a small selection of my favourites from the day:

MAN SS12: SHAUN SAMSON

First up is Shaun Samson's eagerly anticipated SS12 collection a newcomer to the MAN line up. Shaun has been on my radar for a while now ever since seeing his St Martins MA collection and watching him win the highly desirable "Collection of the year award" At ITS#10 earlier in the year. Already seen as the "one to watch" from all the menswear shows this year Samson really is leading the way in refreshing street style silhouettes. Taking inspiration from his upbringing in San Diego and his time spent in LA surrounded by surfers/ 90s grunge and the gangster rap movement. Shaun fuses together colourful Mexican stripes, a bright and bold colour palette bound together in a collection of cotton shirts, tunics and skate shorts.

KTZ - SS12 KOKON TO ZAI MENSWEAR

KTZ killed it once more this season! Although KTZ is primarily a unisex label it was the menswear that really caught my eye at LFW. Fusing a kaleidoscope of inspiration: 90s grunge, graffiti slashed street wear and Amazonian tribal prints. It was the tribal aspect that really got my heart in a flutter. With my own label taking huge influences from every aspect of the African / Haitian way of like particularly in terms of culture and religion (Voodoo etc) I also take huge influence from African styling in terms of hair, make up and bright and bold self expression. Therefore it was intriguing to see another label that I hugely appreciate drawing inspiration from similar themes and interpreting it in there own way. Focusing on the African expression of colour and the passion of the people the KTZ show blasted out some High energy Bold pieces with Colourful, tribal and in your face ghetto influences translated into bomber jackets, voluminous netted pieces, slogan prints, cargo shorts, leather tailored shorts and some high towering ethnic jewellery. KTZ’s ruthless combination of textures – leather, netting and jersey, and intricate details – buckles, chains and beading made for a spontaneous and unexpected show with the menswear featuring rough and edgy designs, cut to showcase attitude and arrogance.

FASHION EAST - AGI & SAM SS12

And saving the best for last Agi & Sam were my absolute favourite from menswear day. Since discovering the label late last year I have been in awe ever since! The SS12 collection has moved on a lot from the 90s humorous fresh prince prints going on in there AW11 collection. This season takes inspiration from the mexican architect Luis Barragan, Dy-lan and the Bisbee deportation a maturer collection in terms of theme and garment silhouette but staying strong to the brands ethos of interesting high-end garments but at mostly affordable prices injecting the fun into fashion with exquisite colour, beautiful prints and unapologetic styling. The collection entitled "Tobasco, Tequila and Tomato Juice" is a fusion of (what I'm guessing) Vincent Van Gough brush strokes, rainbow dip dye, Mexican wrestlers and woven textiles. Everything has been closely though over in this collection from the model casting, overall styling, smashed pottery surroundings and paint drips down to the fantastic shoe collaboration with Osborn shoes - loafers covered in Agi&Sam original prints. PERFECT.

WOOOP! We are extremely excited to announce we will be moving into a fabulous new studio next week. After months and months of searching for possible studio space our hopes have been shattered again and again with spaces literally being snaffled up minutes before we sign the lease. Due to the fact there is literally NO studio space available AT ALL in Scotland. We have went down every route possible in so many obscure locations to try and find our dream studio from tiny spaces with MASSIVE waiting lists to the prospect of travelling miles and miles to use our studio and then we finally thought we had found the PERFECT PLACE got our hopes massively up went to view it figured out how we could split the cost as it was ridiculously expensive and then someone else signed the contract just as we were calling back. TYPICAL. And just as I was starting to think there was no hope and I would be sleeping on patterns and towers of fabric for the rest of my life we received an amazing email from a super lovely lady willing to share her space with us for a few months!!!!

SOOOOO EXCITED TO MOVE IN AND HAVE SOME ORDER TO THE CHAOS. Patterns hung up in order, mannequins out, fabric properly stored and the best thing about it all means we will have SPACE! Space to create bigger and better things and really go all out on garments. It also means all the people that have emailed offering there services to help out whether they were for just general sewing, interning or the knit wear designers. You will all be contacted back as now i have a place to meet with you discuss the designs and move forward into the production stages! SO EXCITED FOR WHAT THE FUTURE WILL BRING!

Louise Gray is basically a Dream Boat! Every collection season to season just gets better and better and her design aesthetic is strong, messy and manic and totally rules the runway in some kind of visual explosion! I honestly think Louise Gray SS12 Killed fashion week! It is the best collection I have seen so far this season! With a mismatched combinations of prints, patterns, textures and fabrics which made for one of the liveliest and most dynamic collections of the whole week. Colour was everywhere with pinks, reds, blues and yellows to name a few. Prints felt tribal with messy geometric patterns overlaid with ornate embellishment to enhance the ethnic feel. I love the combination of embroidery, over embellishment, patches of appliqué, beading, hap hazard styling and fusing different textures that nobody would dream of having side by side. To top it all off the models came strutting down the run way looking like dishevelled rag dolls wearing bright woven-soled flatforms, yet another collaboration with Nicholas Kirkwood for Pollini!!! I need absolutely everything in this collection! Once again Louise Gray you are AMAZING!! Can you be my new best friend?

ZIAD GHANEM MATKA JOANNA

I always get genuinely giddy waiting to watch the Ziad Ghanem show online!! He is by far one of the most exciting designers coming out of London at the moment. I can't even describe what I like about the shows so much as they are so different from my own label and overall design aesthetic. But I can definitely appreciate the craftmanship that goes into every single one of his garments and I am never disappointed always squealing with excitement when each outfit comes down the runway. The inspiration for the Spring/Summer 2012 collection was taken from an old Polish film Matka Joanna od aniolow (Mother Joan of the Angels). The story unfolds of a nun processed by demons, where love and sacrifice provide her only salvation which Ziad translated into an incredible 16 min theatrical performance with nostalgic and dramatic music choices, obscure models and phenomenal styling! I particularly love the use of paint within the collection with the paint splattered silks and paint dripping off the male models faces and Ghanem’s signature style of modern silhouette meets cult couture. With over 2000 ticket requests to every show I reckon I will be watching online for the next few seasons!

I know I've already posted it on the facebook, the twitter and all the other social networking sites but I literally CAN'T GET OVER how bloody good it is - Walter Van Beirendonck, Nick Knight and Simon Foxton all together in one immense fashion film!!! It's like a dream team of all the greats collaborating on one massive project. The film is to coincide with the launch of Walter Van Beirendonck's retrospective at the Antwerp Fashion Museum celebrating the life and career of one of fashions true mavericks. Walter Van Beirendonck needs no introduction, he is probably single handedly the most influential designer I have ever looked up to throughout my entire fashion obsessed life. Graduating from Belgium's Royal Arts Academy in 1980, he was one of the distinguished 'Antwerp Six' - alongside Dries Van Noten, Dirk Bikkembergs, Ann Demeulemeester, Marina Yee and Dirk Van Saene (his partner of 30 years) - who together disseminated a radical new aesthetic pioneering a whole new movement in fashion and placing Antwerp firmly on the map as THEE PLACE to study fashion.

Now the Antwerp Fashion Museum (MoMu) is celebrating the 54-year-old designer's three decades at the cutting edge with the first ever large-scale retrospective of his work, entitled 'Dream the World Awake'. I NEED TO GET FLIGHTS BOOKED NOW!

ASHISH SPRING SUMMER 12

OK could not have loved the ASHISH SS12 collection any more! Every little thing about Ashish Gupta's most recent collection was bang on! One thing I particularly love about the label is their ability to make obvious theme's and concepts seem pretty amazing even something as dull and feminine as floral's and gardening! The oversized floral motifs splattered across large scale prints, slouchy silhouettes and over embellishment worked astonishingly well together. Denim baggy pants tied around the waist with pieces of discarded rope, delicate daisy's, knee length dresses and slip vests all dripping in Ashishs trademark sequins were effortlessly thrown together with models stomping down the runway like straggly scarecrows with straw hats and daisies tucked into their DM's. BRILLIANT!!!

The lack of blogging in the past week has been down to far too much partying really. At least I am honest! I celebrated my 22nd birthday last week with some of my nearest and dearest friends in Glasgow town which started off as a sophisticated few bottles of wine and ended in sheer debauchery! The new collection was all over the floor, everyone had something on and we just ended up running around like crazy's and causing a complete RIOT! Best weekend ever! Although it did take almost a whole week to recover. Now officially back on the wagon and back in the studio with packages being sent out every few days to various clients it is going to be a BUSY WEEK. Also soooo excited to unleash some of the sketches and beginning pieces of the Isolated Heroes for MCGaffE collab andddddd report all news on fashion week! With several pieces of our diffusion line and graduate collection being sent down to wear by some of my fellow fashionistas at 1883 magazine. Can't wait to see how they are going to style it!

soooooo excited to give a little glimpse into the AW collection! The look book shoot took place this Saturday at the wonderful Contrast Studios shooting with the fantastic Josh Liandu, Eilidh Forbes, Eilidh Graham, Kelly Neilson and the amazing Levi Macdonald! Couldn't have asked for a better team to bring my concepts and ideas to life! I was incredibly stressed in the run up to this shoot with all the LA shit going down, sending packages here there and everywhere and taking on a little too much work. I was really starting to panic on what garments we would actually have on the day of the shoot. But somehow i managed to pull it off another week of no sleep and BOOM the majority of samples for the AW winter collection were complete. So excited to have some time between now and the show (ITCOW 26th of October) and be able to refine garments and produce the real show stoppers i am currently collaborating with some fantastic knitters and can't wait to bring the final pieces to life!

Jean Michel Basquiat is seriously inspiring the AW collection!! So much so that i just finished an incredible hand crafted jacket based around one painting alone. I have been working on this bad boy for the past 12 hours. Hand cut, hand painted scales and spikes, hand embellished and an amazing patent alligator collar so thick that i had to hand sew it on. DESPERATE to leak some of these images from the new collection online but i am going to try and be patient for once!

SOOOOOO all the weeks of excitement now over! And gutted to say ..... she didn't wear it. But still what an achievement! So overwhelming to be asked to send our threads to such a prestigious event such as the MTV VMA'S. ESPECIALLY when the label is technically only 2 months old and still not officially launched and we are only going to get BIGGER and BETTER! With sooooooo many exciting things going on at the moment this has still been one of the highlights of the year being asked to send a whole loada "Isolated Heroes" threads through to LA. Also very exciting to know that KREAYSHAWN now has a package of tasty bright tribal isolated heroes delights to wear whenever she feels like it and I am positive we will see her or one of the White Girl Mob rocking that bomber in her next video!
