This week has been crazy exciting - Non stop since the Graduate show! And i can just tell the next few weeks are going to be even more hectic. I have lots of news with a little trip to London on the horizon for a pretty BIG opportunity. But more of that later. Until then, here is a small selection of outtakes from my Pre Show Shoot. There are literally hundreds of good photos from this shoot I'm going to find it difficult making a decision which to upload!

WOWZAAAA! Yesterday i received the most exciting message ever from my good friend Emma. After a discussion about furthering our careers, launching labels and earning some dollaz i suggested that Emma should email Diane Pernet (Diane, A Shaded View On Fashion) some of her films she has been working on and see what she thought. Not in a zillion years did either of us think she would respond as fast as she did. She sent Emma the nicest email EVER! She was so positive about all the films and absolutely LOVED my fashion film and just had to post it online!!!!!
THIS IS HUGEEEEE. To say i was excitable when Emma called me would be an understatement. I was literally swinging from the ceiling when i found out! The fact that she picked this film means sooo much to me. The film was the first collaboration project between Emma and I with me directing, styling and filming (well having the camera on a tripod)and Emma acting super multi talented by modelling in the film and doing the edit!! Diane has now asked Emma to join her in Paris for the film festival! Who knows maybe she will ask to show the film there?
For those of you who don't know who Diane Pernet is, You will most definitely recognise her!!! Always sitting front row and notable at all Runway shows Diane is arguably one of the most well respected figures in the Fashion Industry. Since setting up her blog A Shaded View on Fashion in 2005, she's tirelessly crossed the world, reporting on fashion weeks on every continent and consistently dedicating the blog to new talent. Diane has helped the careers of many designers; Thierry Mugler and Gareth Pugh to name a few by backing them throughout their careers and given new talent a platform to stand on. With the moto "Creatives first, Business second" she has grown to be a cult figure throughout the industry from her dedication to Fashion and through her support of new designers. It is through Diane's love of fashion film that i suggested Emma contact her. Recognising the importance of Fashion Film and its influence on the ever changing industry Diane is now the founder and Creator of the first world wide Fashion Film festival "A Shaded View on Fashion Film". Vice Style have recently interviewed Diane as part of the Blackberry "Visionaries" series .....

I have went blogging mad today but there is just so much to say after the show and i have a mountain of new projects to get my teeth into that i need to start NOW. So i would just rather get all the show stuff out the way. As i have previously mentioned i was a complete idiot and lost my beloved camera on the night of graduation and the week before the show. Which meant not only did i lose every single graduation photo i also didn't get any snaps of the show. ACTUALLY GUTTED!
Thankfully i had a squad backstage helping me who all happened to have their camera's with them. We joked all day that my collection was the "outkast" of the show as i was the only designer not using the assigned models from the agency's having street cast my own and i also made the decision not to use the MAC Team for make up and instead had a team of make up artists working backstage. I wish we could show again tomorrow! It honestly was the best day with the best people to work with We had the biggest riot backstage and i couldnt have asked for a better show!
It feels soooo good when everything seems to be going right for yourself and all the people you care about around you. Right now is such an exciting time for myself and all my friends and main divas as we have all graduated / are graduating from similar courses in Fashion from different University's. Obviously there are all my Heriot - Watt sistaas and then there is the amazingly talented Yasmin Bawa from Middelsex and now my wonderful friend Gary Wilson is in his final year at Northumbria University.
The different talents between the group are completely endless and it feels good knowing such talented people that will go far and do well in whatever they set there sights to. Aiming high, achieving our goals and SETTING THE WORLD TO RIGHTS!!!!
Anyway to say i am excited for Gary's graduate collection would be a complete understatement!! He has recently collaborated with the amazing Emma Noble who is currently making a name for herself producing some Fantastic Fashion films which you can watch on her Vimeo. Gary collaborated with Emma on "No Love Lost" a fashion film shot with the beautiful Lauren Andrew, based around Gary's third year project of designing an outfit from a "signature style" that best sums up the designer. Having previously worked with Gareth Pugh, Gary's influences clearly come across in his love for a sleek silhouette, vivid textures and a variety of dark, natural materials: the dress is made from Italian Lycra with the accessories made in Goats leather and Ostrich. He has definitely set the standard for his signature style and now i cannot wait to see the final collection!

It was sooo nice to eventually meet the lovely Marina Mclean after the show last Friday. I frequently speak to Marina online and am an avid fan of her blog STYLE SCANNER so it was nice to meet her face to face and have a quick chat about my collection which she later posted on her blog. You can read about the show here.
She also took some nice photos of my models together backstage which i was thankful for since i had been the original master of disaster as usual and lost my camera at Graduation the week before the show!

WOW WOW WOW. OK last Friday was THE BEST NIGHT OF MY LIFE. Thank you to all my make up artists, models, photographers, dressers and everyone who helped backstage and came along to see the show! You have genuinely made my year! Words can't describe how overwhelmed i was by the reaction of people when my collection came down the runway! The emails i have received since the show have been fantastic. Thank you all again i can't wait to see what the future brings.
Can I also point out that my name is Samantha McEwen, not "An" as it has been previously posted in interviews. Can't believe they got it wrong for the show. Still AMAZZZZZZZIN!

The last few days i have been mega busy finishing some samples of the 90s bomber jackets i am making to be sent away for production. So excited to see which jackets work the best and are well received. The collection will consist of 6 unisex bomber jackets made from printed panels, denim and original African batik.
Here is a little preview of the rude boy jacket i finished today!
Excuse me for the awful pictures but i litrally grabbed my sister the moment she got home from work to try them on!
Oh God Versace for H&M!
Best news i've heard all year! I am currently bidding on the most amazing vintage Versace printed trousers circa 1992 on eBay so was completely over the moon when i heard about the collaboration. Rather than a "diffusion" the line is being sold as an "iconic collection" with Donatella going straight to the archives of the Versace label for inspiration which have only recently been opened since Gianni Versace's death in 1997. With studs, leather, bodycon silhouettes, clashing prints and bitching bling i will definitely be queuing come November.
